Santa to spend December in Killarney

Santa is to spend a large portion of the month of December in Killarney. According to reports, Radio Kerry News understands that Santa and Mrs Clause will be spending time in the new Santa Village in the town. The good news is, the village will be open to the public and visitors will have the opportunity to meet Mrs Clause, the elves and of course the man himself.

German traders arrive in Kerry in advance of German market

A group of German traders are arriving in Kerry this lunchtime, as part of the cultural partnership between Tralee and Frankfurt-Höchst.
They’re here for the German style Christmas market in Tralee, which will feature both German and Irish Christmas themed produce, from tomorrow until Tuesday.
Also over the weekend, German and Kerry choirs will perform in The Square; the famous German organist Rolf Kunz will stage a recital Monday evening in St John’s; and Kerry County Museum is hosting an exhibition of Höchst porcelain.
Tralee’s Christmas lights will be officially switched on tomorrow at 4.30 in The Square by Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Terry O’Brien.

Christmas parking in Kerry

Killarney Town Council are reducing parking rates in the New Street and Glebe car parks by 50% over the next three Saturdays.

Also, parking will be free for the month of December in the High Street and Lewis Road car parks which are a little further away from the town centre.

In Listowel, the town council has sanctioned free parking on Christmas week, starting on December 21.

Meanwhile, in Tralee, no changes to parking charges in the town have been agreed but the issue is expected to be considered at next week’s local town council meeting.

Tralee’s Christmas shopping festival starts tomorrow with a German-style Christmas market featuring traditional stands from Tralee’s partner town, Frankfurt-Höchst.

Tralee mayor Terry O’Brien will officially turn on the Christmas lights at 4.30pm tomorrow.

The annual Christmas in Killarney Festival will also get under way tomorrow evening with the switching on of Christmas lights following a parade of hundreds of carol-singing children.

A craft and food market, will be held in Killarney on each weekend until Christmas, starting this Saturday. The market will be in the Fair Field car park.

Shopkeepers in Killarney and Dingle are to offer customers discounts, with price reductions of up to 10% this weekend.
