Kerry Filmmakers shooting Western film in Kerry this Summer

28 Mar

Local filmmakers Tommy Fitzgerald and Patrick Ryan are currently in preproduction for ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town’, their first feature film project which they are producing under their company, Lagoon Pictures.

The film centres around Cleo Callahan, a troubled teenage sharpshooter who strives to avenge the death of her estranged sister after she is found Picture 1murdered in a public bathroom. Unbeknownst to Cleo, her best and only friend Robin O’Riley is the murderer she has sworn to kill. The script has already won several international awards and Patrick got several offers from major production companies who wanted to produce the film. However, Patrick and Tommy decided to go it alone and make the film themselves under Lagoon Pictures and shoot it the way it was originally envisioned in county Kerry.

In order to raise the money to make this project Patrick and Tommy have launched an online funding campaign which can be found here – www.indiegogo.com/darknessfilm

They aim to make €20,000 in 40 days using this method. In return for donations, you get different perks like posters, t-shirts, copies of the soundtrack etc. Any contribution, big or small, will make a huge difference and this film cannot get made without your help. Even if you cannot donate to their project, you can help hugely by just spreading the word far and wide and by sharing the funding campaign link to as many people as possible.

All the information on the project and how you can help can be found on the campaign pagewww.indiegogo.com/darknessfilm or on Patrick and Tommy’s website www.lagoonpictures.com.

“We appreciate any help that anyone can offer. We want to show the world how beautiful the landscape of Kerry is with this film, and we are confident we will have a fantastic piece of independent Irish cinema in the end. But none of this can happen without a little help to get the project off the ground.” – Tommy
