Kerry house prices still falling but not as sharply

2 Apr

Kerry house prices are still in decline – but not as sharply as previously. That’s according to a survey by Daft.ie. Early 2012 has shown the smallest decline in house prices since the market went into freefall in 2007. The first quarter of the year saw prices fall by 1.4% nationally – compared to 8% in the last quarter of 2011. The national average asking price for a house is now €177,000, down 52% from the peak.

In Kerry the average asking price is €167.649. This represents a 6.6% decline from the previous quarter. Munster in general fared worse than the rest of the country with prices falling by 4.3%. However, the fall is still below the 7.2% fall seen in the final three months of 2011.
