Danny Healy-Rae in the dark over Dail premium rate calls

28 Jun

Danny Healy-Rae says that he knows nothing about the thousands of premium rate telephone calls that originated from Dáil Éireann to vote for him in a reality-tv show in 2007. The South Kerry TD was speaking to Anton Savage this morning on the Ray D’Arcy show on TodayFM this morning.

In an article in today’s Irish Daily Mail, it is reported that the then Kerry county councillor won the ‘Celebrities Go Wild’ competition in October 2007 with a total of 3,636 calls coming from within Leinster House. It is not known at this time who made these calls. The bill for these calls came to €2,639, which was paid for by the tax-payer. The money raised was donated to People In Need.

    U-turn!

Now Danny Healy-Rae is going to pay for the calls himself. (Link: http://www.rte.ie/news/2011/0629/healyraem.html). He should really have gone with this tactic from the very begining instead of going with saying he didint know who made the calls. Who cares who made them!
