Killarney is celebrating after the Dr. Croke’s club won its first county final in 10 years. They defeated Tralee’s Austin Stacks 1-15 to 0-11 in a well-attended match at Austin Stack Park in Tralee this afternoon. Crokes always had the upper hand with a second-half, Colm-Cooper goal proving decisive. What became known as the battle of the black and amber – because both clubs use the same colours – developed into a strong rivalry between Kerry’s largest two towns. It was one of the most intensely anticipated finals in recent years.
