Kerry planning rule for masts is unrealistic says Bord Pleanala

14 Jun

Kerry County Council’s 1km-rule, which restricts the erection of telecommunications masts within a kilometre of residential buildings, has once again been overruled by An Bord Pleanala. The mast and antennae owned by Vodafone at Lisroe Road in Duagh has been granted retention permission. In its report, An Bord Pleanala stated that it considers the 1km rule to be unrealistic and contrary to existing policies and guidelines. It granted retention permission for the mast for a period of five years.

You cant have your cake and eat it! You cannot enforce this silly 1km rule as Kerry County Council have allowed the unsustainable spread of one-off housing throughout the county.

Is there even anywhere that exists in the the county that is 1km from a house???
