Demand for second hand houses in Kerry on the increase

The demand for second hand houses in Kerry is on the increase. That’s according to Tralee and Killarney based auctioneers, Ger Carmody and Tom Spillane. The rise in second-hand house sales can be attributed to sharp falls in house prices, low mortgage rates from some lenders and a feeling that the worst of the budget increases were over.

According to recent findings from the Daft.ie property website, asking prices for homes fell by 19pc during 2009 and are now 30pc below their peak levels of early 2007. Tom Spillane says he’s seen the second hand house market pick up significantly. Ger Carmody agreed, saying second hand homes are back in fashion, due to the value they offer
