Planning Authority refuses permission for Killarney hotel development

6 May

An Bord Pleanala has put a halt to the development of another hotel on Killarney’s Golden Mile. The development would have included a 49 bedroom hotel, 74 dwellings, offices and a basement carpark. Local developer Con Duggan had been granted permission for the project which would have been located on the site of the Killarney Mineral Waters Company by Killarney Town Council. The property is in an area with residential zoning and Mr Duggan said it would be mainly used for residential purposes. However, some local residents objected on grounds of extra traffic, density, excessive height of the proposed buildings and interference with their privacy.
