20 Feb

There’s to be a major jobs boost for Tralee as An Bord Pleanala has granted planning permission for the redevelopment of Austin Stack Park and Ballybeggan Racecourse. Both developments have been given the go ahead subject to revised conditions, after being appealed to the board. The major complex planned for the current GAA headquarters on John Joe Sheehy Road, Tralee by developers John Casey and Seamus O’Halloran, is expected to create 17-hundred jobs. It’s to comprise over forty shops, 28 apartments, and 16-hundred car parking spaces.

While the plans for Ballybeggan Park include the building of a 15-thousand seat GAA stadium, a neighbourhood centre, town park, business park, retail warehousing, apartments and houses. It’s part of the project to redevelop Austin Stack Park and Ballybeggan Park, and the creation of a GAA academy in Currans, Farranfore, and new facilities for the Kingdom Coursing Club at Ballinorig. The plans to build the GAA academy have been appealed to An Bord Pleanala, who is due to make a decision on March 20th.
