Deputy McEllistrim asked to explain Dail vote absence

8 Oct

Kerry North TD Tom McEllistrim is today being asked to explain why he wasn’t present at the vote on the Government’s rescue plan for Irish banks. Deputy McEllistrim and his Fianna Fáil colleague Donegel TD Jim McDaid were both absent from the vote in the Dáil in the early hours of Thursday morning. The Kerry North TD hasn’t given any reason for his absence, and despite efforts since last week, Radio Kerry News has been unable to make contact with him. Fianna Fáil has confirmed a meeting is to take place today between the Government Chief Whip, Keel native, Pat Carey and Deputy Tom McEllistrim; however the party’s headquarters won’t be commenting any further as it’s an internal matter.
