A Tralee Town Councillor says that the council did seek a meeting with Mary Harney before she visited Kerry General Hospital yesterday. Fine Gael Councillor Pat Hussey says Tralee town council had written to the Health Minister requesting a meeting but were denied. The Minister travelled to Kerry to discuss the future of the hospital including cancer care services. Fine Gael Deputy Jimmy Deenihan expressed his disappointment with Mary Harney’s refusal to meet with both Tralee Town Council and Kerry County Council despite being asked to do so. Deputy Deenihan says the Minister was very badly advised to only invite Fianna Fail members of Kerry County Council to the meeting.
Councillor Hussey says the Minister should retract her claim that she wasn’t asked to meet with other councillors
