Killarney to stage new August races in 2009

29 Jul

Hourse Racing Ireland (HRI) have announced the racing calendar for 2009. As Tralees racecourse has been sold to developers, there will be no racing in Tralee after this year. Some of Tralee’s seven race days have found direct replacements in the Kingdom. Listowel is extending its Whit weekend meeting from two to three days. Of the five dates in August, two have been switched to Killarney, which will now stage a four-day August Festival as well as their traditional July meeting. The Killarney racetrack, located on the towns Ross Road, will take over the traditional Tralee dates and run a new four-day Festival from Tuesday evening 18 August to Friday evening 21 August.
