Jessie Buckley offered Nancy understudy role in West End

15 Jul

Killarney singer Jessie Buckley has been offered the part of under-study for ‘Nancy’ in the forthcoming Cameron Mackintosh production of ‘Oliver!’ Jessie, who shot to fame in the popular BBC television series ‘I’d do Anything’, was the runner-up in the quest to find a suitable actress to play the part of ‘Nancy’. Since the live final of the show, which was watched by an estimated 20 million viewers, Jessie has signed up with an agent in London, and has received numerous offers of work.

Rehearsals for ‘Oliver’ begin in the autumn and the show opens in the West End in December.

That is great. Does this mean that Jessie has accepted the offer? She certainly deserves it. Can you give us more information on her schedules as time goes on? I would love to fly to London to see her perform. Well done Jessie!

I certainly hope she accepts the offer. It will be a great opportunity to continue learning her craft and gain experience. She’s absolutely fantastic and I can’t wait to see her on the West End stage. I’d also like news on her schedules. I’m based in London at present but would happily travel to Kerry just for the chance to see a performance by her. Onwards and Upwards Jessie!

She’s worth so much more than understudy. Still it will mean that she’ll be retained by Cameron Mackintosh for a starring role in a future production so it’s still great news.

Well Done Jessie – Glad to see Cameron Mackintosh knows a Good Thing when he sees it. Him and Andrew Lloyd Webber must have decided that they could not lose Jessie and things can only get so much better for her. I’m thrilled as she really deserves to be in the West End with the best. I predict that Andrew will write a Musical especially for her. I never saw him so animated before about anyone – Go Girl we love you….The Monahan Family, Bray
