No specific details of funding for Kerry from NDP
Minister John O’Donoghue has admitted the new 33 billion euro National Development Plan does not as yet give specific details of funding projects in the county.
Under the plan, Killarney and Tralee are to be further developed as hub towns – areas which are seen as key in promoting regional development in their area.
The Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism says this policy will help nurture economic growth and investment in all parts of Kerry.
The South Kerry TD says the National Development Plan will also help transform the road network.
He outlines some of the roads that are to benefit.
However, opposition TDs claim the National Development Plan represents a major disappointment for the people of Kerry.
Sinn Fein Deputy Martin Ferris says the county – particularly North Kerry – has been largely ignored while Labour’s Breeda Moynihan Cronin questioned whether the plan will deliver its promises on time.
Fine Gael TD Jimmy Deenihan is urging Kerry County Council to establish a representative group to monitor whether the county is getting its fair share from the new plan.
